I have a library of about 900 albums and growing, mostly flac where
possible, which I play through slimserver and high quality speakers,
amps etc.
I duplicate the library with aac and mp3 files which are used to play
out on a couple of ipods, 60 and 80gb. The ipods are used in cars and
boats. Is there a simple way of adjusting the volume output for the
whole ipod library?

The source music is vinyl, downloads and cds so it has come in at
various volume levels. The collection is very eclectic ranging through
opera, jazz, rock (white stripes etc)

The volume levels are not a problem with the flac collection but can be
a problem when driving in a car with inferior speakers when a sudden
crescendo is reached in an opera, or when a loud amplitude rock track
follows a quiet one.

Any suggestions?

I haven't used replay gain on the collection at all, finding I don't
need it for home use

Thanks for any thoughts

Michael
