I am converting apple lossless files for two reasons. (dbPoweramp works awesome btw.)
First as mentioned by Pale Blue - Gain. Nothing more annoying than picking a playlist and reaching for the remote every third song to adjust the volume. (Yes I did try all forms of gain available) Second is that I am moving to share the library with my dual boot Linux box as well. The more I learn about Linux the less reason there is to boot into Windows... Ripping got finished last night - now just to add art to the tags and get the library sorted the way I want it.
