Hi, I am on a Mac G5 using iTunes and importing to Apple Lossless. I have an internal Sony and an external Pioneer drive (FW400), both Apple supported. If I look at a CD of course the AIFF filesizes are identical from both readers. When I import I get different filesizes from each reader. If I redo an import, the sizes do not change ie. they are consistently different. This is a real worry - which reader or encoding is the best ? Why should they be different ? Of course I only noticed this after doing 500 CD's some on internal some on external.
