Hey. I am very close to purchasing a NetGear (f/k/a Infrant) ReadyNAS to store a very large music collection (2500+ cds). I have a question about the RAID arrays that I cannot get Netgear to answer (terrible terrible customer support line).
My question is how much storeage do I need to take advantage of the RAID backup for say 1tb of music? My understanding of how RAID works is that if one drive dies, the data is automatically transferred to another drive. Thus, if I have 1tb of data, don't I need another 1tb of empty drive(s) to accept/backup the data from the drive(s) that die? Or, am I missing the boat? Help please. Be kind, I am very untechy. Thanks. -- Shredder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shredder's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11380 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40414 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
