So when did it all go wrong? I had no trouble on Saturday. On Monday, I got a "not in database" response, but it was for a new and fairly obscure CD.
I see nothing on www.freedb.org about the service ceasing to work, just a lot of blahblahblah about the service continuing to be freely available. The URL that my copy of EAC was using was http://freedb.freedb.org:80/~cddb/cddb.cgi; I'd never tried to change it (or choose a mirror) until today. I wonder if the service is still available, but under a different URL? However, this matches the "how to access" instructions. Hopefully it's just a temporary screwup, rather than a permanent shutdown. I guess it got me to notice the takeover, but it's hardly good advertising. I don't suppose there are any (free) alternatives? I have an uncomfortable disintegrating-egg-basket feeling... -- Brian -- Brian Ritchie ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Brian Ritchie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2319 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40840 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
