There is probably an option in the sync program I use (xxcopy). I'll have to study the documentation, which is pretty extensive as I've not used even 1/50th of the program's power. For now I changed the mod dates and sent a fresh copy of everything to the backup drive. It does screw up New Music, but only this one time.
