Thanks for your reply. I'm using mp3tag for exactly this purpose and I
have been exploring going back to 2.3 for my tags as other products are
giving me problems with 2.4. I'm trying to salvage the ArtistSort
functionality.

mp3tag stores PERFORMERSORTORDER as the tag 'TSOP' regardless of
whether you are using ID3 v2.3 or v2.4. TSOP is officially only in
v2.4. but iTunes uses it for v2.3, as well. mp3tag does this to
maintain compatibility with iTunes. I have no problem with this... I
like the TSOP field and it's the major reason I was going with v2.4. I
wish others would take this interim step while the world struggles with
accepting the new standard.

For the record, the "correct" way should be for ID3 v2.3 to be stored
as 'TXXX' 'PERFORMERSORTORDER'.

My question is more focused on how SqueezeServer parses the tags. If
my tags are ID3 v2.3, will the scanner ignore 'TSOP' and only look for
'TXXX' 'ARTISTSORT'?

Does anyone know?

Thanks, David
