The flac bitrate is no indicator for sound quality.
A lower bitrate only means that a higher compression was used.
This could be due to lower overall signal level of the generally
quieter vinyl source compared to todays "louder is better" CDs.
Compare the uncompressed wav from the vinyl rip with a remix from CD in
audacity and you might notice a huge difference in average and peak
signal levels.
