I gave up using WMP to manage the music on my library because I couldn't get the tags which worked in Slimserver/Squeezecenter, foobar, Winamp and many others to play nice in WMP. WMP consistently split my compilation albums up into single track albums no matter how the Compilation tag was set and downloaded/displayed different artwork from that I had already added to the folder. This was a while back, and WMP has since been updated, but I just didn't need the hassle of trying to work out what the problem was.
You can download Squeezecenter now and have it scan your existing library to see if any of these tag compatibility problems will affect you. I now use Audiograbber to rip and mp3tag/foobar to manage my music.
