Mark, Thank you for shedding light on something that has been puzzling me for weeks. I had not known prior to your post that I can just use the Analyze in MP3Gain to JUST write the tags. I can see the tags now with MP3Tag v2.40 and they agree exactly with foobar2000. So I now have a way to normalize to something other than 89dB.
I find the MP3Gain UI a bit confusing. I wish it weren't so easy to modify the files. But thanks again for clarifying.
