I have a collection of flac files which I have not ripped myself. I have noticed that some of these files take a long time to read into my tag editor when they are read from a network drive, which I can't explain.
I use mp3tag on Windows for tag editing, and my flac files are on a Ubuntu server, where the directory is shared with Samba. Usually, reading a directory of flac files over the network is pretty fast, but with this one directory, reading it takes ages. My naive guess would be that perhaps the tags are stored at the end of the file or something similar, which makes mp3tag read the whole files, instead of being able to just read the beginning of the file for the tags, and then move on. But that's only a guess, as I said I don't know what's going on. Does anyone know what might be causing this, and even better: know what to do about it? -- strindberg ------------------------------------------------------------------------ strindberg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11265 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47782 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
