Depends on a number of factors.  The average CD is anywhere from 300 GB
(short album) to 600 GB (long album) before encoding.  FLAC encoding
achieves ratios averaging from .4 to .75 (every once in a while I see
higher or lower).  If you do the math with 600 GB per disc and .75
ratio, you'll probably end up with more space than you need, but hard
disks are cheap nowdays.  Go for it!

500 GB drives are cheap.   That said, my CD collection has grown past
500 GB, so I just got a second 500 GB drive.
