What he said... I use JRiver too. It has a couple of option for putting artwork in the album folder and embedding the artwork in the files. I go for folder.jpg files but you can check both options and do both if you want.
I haven't got a problem with artwork so seperate files may be the way to go... Have a look and see what you've got checked in JRiver's options.
