If you read my last post I re-encoded one of the ALAC files within iTunes to MP3 (Freunhoffer codec, not LAME) creating a 320kbps MP3. I said it didn't play, but I was incorrect. The MP3 encoded with iTunes DOES PLAY after doing a library re-scan.
I have had problems with LAME using a program called BarbaBatch where there was extra punctuation in the FORMAT NAME, i.e. BarbaBatch has a customizable list of conversions that I created, not necessarily in the track title or artist.
