I'm new to all of this, but after much reading of this forum and the dBpoweramp forums, here is my strategy:
1. In the bottom left menu box, I clicked "profile" then "create profile" to set up a place to save my settings. 2. I chose Rip to FLAC. 3. I set my path to go to my music folder. 4. I put this code into the naming code box: [IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[]\[album]\[track] [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album]\[track] [artist][] - [title] I got that code from Spoon over on the dBpoweramp forum, http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=15675. It makes regular CDs by a single artist be named Artist (folder) > Album (folder) > track number artist - song title. That way the file name would just be 01 Billy Idol - Rebel Yell.flac. And, it makes compilation CDs (by various artists) be named Various Artists (folder) > Album (folder) > track number artist - song title. For compilation CDs, the tracks have the correct individual artist associated with them. The file name is the same structure as for a single-artist CD. To me it made sense for file names to always be the same no matter whether they came from a single-artist or compilation cd. Any drawbacks to that scheme that anyone knows??? 5. I left the compression level at the default level (5). 6. Then I clicked on Options on the top menu bar. - Under ripping method, I selected "secure" - Under meta data I changed Multi-CD Add Disc to Album to never, because I don't want folders for different CDs in a set of CDs - Under write ID tags, (1) I un-checked Rating, b/c I didn't like the little bomb-looking icon it always seemed to add in place of what should have been no rating. (2) I checked "force no date on year" b/c I didn't like having a month and day for date - I only want the year. (3) I also checked "track number without track count" and "disk number without disk count" - Under CD rom, I checked "eject after rip" -- what_to_buy ------------------------------------------------------------------------ what_to_buy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=19555 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51976 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/ripping
