OK, I've been following this thread, and am also a newbie MP3TAG user. I hadn't seen any artwork displayed, all of which is stored as "folder.jpg" in each album's directory. I just tried MP3TAG, went into the options/tools window, down to the "tags" tab, unchecked "Don't display first image from file directory as cover art", and now viola, I see the cover art. (And no, the art is NOT imbedded into the files).
