In general (and this is for FLAC so I can't guarantee it works the same for mp3) I get the best VA results setting ARTIST per track, leaving ALBUMARTIST undefined and setting COMPILATION=1. The last step shouldn't be needed for SC but I've found other apps which like it. You shouldn't be using the value "Various Artists" anywhere.
