Thanks for the suggestion. It seems to get me one step further but still not yet far enough. After assigning a drive letter to my music folder on the linux server, the script seems to recognize the files and start to process them,but gives the following error message for each file: ------------- C:\Documents and Settings\xxx>"c:\program files\dmus\flac2mp3-0.2.7\flac2mp3.pl" R:\Berlioz "c:\music on c\mp32" Processing directory: R:\Berlioz 17 flac files found. When I look at the output folder, the directory tree has been created with all the folders and there is a file for each track, and each file seems to have its tags set, but each file has a size of 4.00kb and there seems to be no music data in it (when I try to play it in winamp, it starts and immediately says 'end of playback' and no sound is produced. If as you say flac doesn't allow UNC names, maybe this is just a limitation of flac that there is no way around. If so, I'll have to come up with some other approach.
