I have my .jpg files embedded in each file, as well as a copy in each
album directory. As I mentioned, works fine every time for me (about
10,000 tracks so far, with artwork for about 95% of them). There was a
problem with files that were very large appearing as a black box. This
was repaired by shrinking the size of the problem files.

As the OP said, you already have identified part of the problem as
being the'Jaikoz alias' tool.
