Encouraged by posts here I've tried ripping DVD-As with DVD A Explorer. So far so good. But as BigBirdy and others have said it's the multi-channel only files with no downmix available that's the problem.
So far I've got the front channels of some orchestral discs - which sound very good (the rear channels were purely ambient information). However getting a good stereo mix of discs with programme info in the rear channels seems beyond me. If you Combine Groups to create a single file with 5.1 information is there any software editor available (free or cheap) to achieve a suitable downmix? Or is this the Holy Grail of Hi-Res ripping? Also, from what I've read, ripping SACDs is a total no-go area - which is a pity . . . -- morris_minor Living Room: Transporter Study: Receiver Kitchen: Boom Son's Bedroom: Classic iPeng on an iPhone, 2 x Controllers Server: TranquilPC T2-WHS-A3i SC 7.2.1 - 23630 - - - - http://www.last.fm/user/morris_minor_1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ morris_minor's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13950 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=66107 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
