All the DVD-A's I have acquired so far either have seperate lpcm stereo
tracks which can be ripped by DVD-Audo Explorer 2008, or you can use the
"Get Stereo Downmix" feature to create an on the fly downmix from the
5.1 files as you rip. This feature appears to use a mix matrix file that
only exists on disks with no LPCM stereo tracks. This feature is only
available in the latest version of DVD-Audio Explorer (beta 3).

DVD-A's are supposed to be playable in ANY DVD player, many of which
are not hooked up to 5.1 systems, so some form of stereo replay
capability for audio is mandatory. I know some DVD players have the
5.1>2.0 downmix ability implemented in their firmware.
