To the original post: an alternative to Mareo is Akkurat's version of the REACT 2 mod that enables EAC to be nearly as configurable as the paid version of dbPoweramp.
It is really easy to install over a standard installation of EAC, and offers extended tagging features, getting album art and simultaneous encoding to other formats (MP3 etc).
