You're absolutely > right, and that is the default setting. My problem was I was talking about the wrong software; I meant to say "J. River". That's the app I haven't been able to find a setting for, to force the modified date to change when changing tags. I use MP3Tag for mass changes, but now and then spot something that just needs to be tweaked while I'm using J. River.

Admittedly it was about ten years ago that I had problems, and I can't even recall now whether it was because Windows wasn't consistent about setting/resetting it, or the backup software I was using at the time (backing up to tape, fer gossakes!), but something wasn't working right, and I got bitten. And once bitten, as they say. Besides, I believe a rescan of music files for "new and changed" bases its selection on the modified data/timestamp, so if that hasn't changed, any tag changes I've made (in J. River, not MP3Tag) don't get picked up unless I do a full rescan. So to ask the right question: does anybody using J. River (MeSue?) know of a way to force it to update the file's "modified" date & time when tags are changed? -- Dogberry2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dogberry2's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18883 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69764 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list ripping@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
