Sorry, it is HDAD (I didn't have the discs in front of me the first time) and yes, it's NOT DVD-A. I've got tons of those and do use Explorer to rip and re-encode as 5.1 FLAC. I'm running XP on my Mac as well just for this reason.
This is a two-channel mix burned in a DVD video format with 96k PCM files on one side and 192k PCM files on the other side.
