I found this too. I use an application called soundconverter to convert the files to aiff then import to itunes then convert to apple lossless using itunes and this works. When soundconverter converts the files to apple lossless I get the same problem with them not playing on the squeezebox. Max, (never used it) may convert flac to aiff then you can convert to apple lossless in itunes.
