good question. really, a minor reason: I have over 8,000 artists and it
turns out that even when I'm sorta paying attention, I might end up
ripping with an artist name that is "The XXX" instead of "XXX" or Robert
Earl Keen Jr. instead of Robert Earl Keen, or "Agents of Good Roots"
instead of "Agents Of Good Roots" etc. And this will turn out to be
different from the way all my other albums are stored by that artist. I
don't actually notice this until I scan to add to SbS. So I almost
always have to fix something after the fact and clean up directories,
etc. I do all this stuff first and make sure all is well, and then later
go back and create the mp3 files. I agree it is not neccessary if I was
careful enough up front.

and either way, i'll have to run the mp3 files through some actions
within mp3tag (e.g., convert ITUNNORM values to album replaygain values,
which is what I want on the ipod).
