Using the server (not the touch + usb drive) I have some relatively large cover arts in my collection (1000x1000 - 1500x1500 are not uncommon). I also load multiple covers (front, back, leaflet) using mp3tag if available and I have the patience. These all work fine (though the only the first image is displayed by squeezebox). I'm adding multiple covers in case it gets supported in future. Haven't had problems yet. Don't have a touch yet, but I hear that with USB drive connected to the touch you may need to be more careful.
