I don't use a Mac, so can't really help on that front, but what exactly is being "messed up"? Are you seeing problems only in iTunes, both iTunes and Squeezebox Server, or only in Squeezebox Server?
If you don't use iTunes playlists there isn't much reason to use the iTunes integration in Squeezebox Server.
