I'll tell you what I do with FLACs (that works). Search this forum for COMPILATION and you'll find more than you want to know. SbS can use logic such as different album artist from track artist, etc. to guess about compilations. But I prefer the approach I suggest below.

Is it "YES" or "NO"?? Or something else? > For my compilation albums, I have COMPILATION = 1. Otherwise the COMPILATION tag is empty (or doesn't even exist). You do NOT need a value of "0". On my compilation albums I have albumartist as "Various Artists" but on non-compilations, albumartist is empty. MP3TAG is a great program for powerful tag editing (including FLAC tags). But it can also use its other logic (which I don't use since I use compilation tags). This choice is irrelevant for albums that SbS doesn't think is a compilation. SlimTrigger;564210 Wrote: > 3. Am I on the right track? > b. Does "List albums by band" execute based on values in the BAND > tag, or will it also look to ALBUMARTIST tag? (Again, asking for FLAC > files) This has more to do with whether you want the albums listed by artist or by album artist (or band, which can sometimes be interpreted as album artist). With regard to "b" I think it will use either band or albumartist. But can't recall on my own files. Best to just experiment a bit with your own files. SlimTrigger;564210 Wrote: > 4. In SBS Server settings there is the choice related to TPE2 MP3 tags. > Can I assume that this option is N/A for FLAC files?? not sure on this one. p.s. I've learned to just experiment with all my own various options to get what works best for me. I have my main SbS with 60,000+ files. But I also run a SbS on my laptop with only a handful of files. This way I can play around with tags, etc. and then scan quickly to test how SbS deals with certain option combinations. And as mentioned, mp3tag is your friend when it comes to tagging. You can easily create on tag from another field, create new tags/fields, etc. -- garym ------------------------------------------------------------------------ garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80683 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
