thanks for that excellent help.  i used your first option, as i won't
be doing this often.

i did this on a "test" run, (i made backups first ;-) using your
relative path string:

%band%\$num(%track%,2) %title%

and it made the subfolders under "unsorted" which is fine, as well as
placed the appropriate file in them.

however, it also renamed the files.  i don't want it to do that.  i
just want it to create the folder, and move the file, as is, to it.  no
changes to the filename or tag, just create the folder and move it to
it.

is that possible?
