moley6knipe: "Add some album sorting tags, that's a foolproof way of doing it."
What a cool idea! I tried it right away, but it didn't work. Odd that FLAC should work differently from Apple lossless. But it's already odd that FLAC works differently from WMA. Are you sure you need the album sorting tags? It seems like if the album artists are different, that should be enough. garym: "You shouldn't have to do this (change track numbers). I just checked, and I have lots of albums with the same names (greatest hits). When I navigate via my music > album, these all show up separately by artist. So I'm guessing there is something not complete about your tags. Double check that all these albums have an ARTIST tag that is filled in, etc." Are your files FLAC? Odd if we don't get the same behavior. I have checked the ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST tags many times. I thought maybe the problem was related to the overlap in artists: one album has artists A, B, C and another has artists A, D, E. Maybe that is what is causing the two to be treated as different tracks of a single album. But I tried removing A from the second artist list, and nothing changed. (I am of course doing a complete clear and rescan of the library when doing these tests.) I don't know what other tags might be relevant. The COMPOSER is the same for both. That's the only remaining overlap (except for genre tags), but surely that's not it (any more than the genre tags). funkstar: "I'm at work so can't access my servers settings pages, but there is a section that lets you enter common album titles to stop them being combined. I think things like "The Greatest Hits" is already in there." Like garym, I've looked and can't find this option. If you could let me know where it is, I'd like to try it. -- dpotts ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dpotts's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29782 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80886 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
