"needle drops"? Look at the scanner log (go to settings\information at the bottom of the page) and see if there are any errors reported. Do the songs have apple copy protection/DRM? Sox is included in SBS by default and would be used to downsample this to 24/48 autmatically. Try a clear and rescan.
