Michael, 'Here' (https://files.me.com/joelsilber/v25k9j.wav) is a 4 millisecond 16/44.1 wav file with a single maximum sample at 1.5 milliseconds. Use it with your preferred sox parameters and the output is the impulse response.
Here are the impulse responses for the three sox command-lines I mentioned: This is the "default" high quality minimum phase upsampling with aliasing/imaging allowed above the passband (rate -v -M -a 88200 dither -S): [image: https://files.me.com/joelsilber/kbvz8v] This is the more relaxed minimum phase filter *without* aliasing (rate -v -M -b 90.7 88200 dither -S): [image: https://files.me.com/joelsilber/xwzrd0] This is the more relaxed minimum phase filter *with* aliasing/imaging allowed above the passband (rate -v -M -a -b 90.7 88200 dither -S): [image: https://files.me.com/joelsilber/nrg9z4] For comparison, here is the impulse response of the Meridian 808.2 CD player, as measured by Stereophile, with the same overall horizontal scale (now you understand why I chose a 4ms sample with an impulse at 1.5ms!): [image: http://www.stereophile.com/images/archivesart/409Merfig02.jpg] The Meridian looks very close to the last of the three impulse responses that I generated which wasn't entirely a fluke!
