I'm afraid some CDs just seem to be broken from factory. I had a CD that wouldn't rip in EAC, there was no visible damage, except for one playing it had been sitting in the jewel case for a few years. My brother had the same title which his kids had (man)handled to the extent that it looked like it had been subjected to a belt sander and then run over by a truck. That disc ripped without a hitch.
