I also put 01 02 03 to 11 12 13 in mytrack numbers. and there are many other issues that arise when you put your music database to other uses. You have found that the track numbers are used differently by the same device in "Folder Mode" and in "Tag Mode"; but there are other devices like the Brennan that have no tags, and no concept of "Artist". In order to easily exprt to that device, one needs the files for each CD organised in folders that name the Album AND Artist.
My problem is to organise my files for use by iPod and Squeezebox. I want FLAC for best performance on Squeezebox, but need mp3 for the iPod. So I have two copies of every track! Apple (and Windows) ignores FLAC - they just do not recognise it as a music file. But the Squeezebox now lists every track twice, which is annoying; and worse I cannot easily tell which is which, unles I rename each (of 900) albums as "<Album Name> mp3" and "<Album Name> Flac".
