Linux .

And FLAC files only ,well 1% Mp3's friends you know, I'm not so elitist
that i demand that my friends not defile my server with mp3's :)

I embed images for practical reasons , I want the files to be able to
"stand for themselves" if I for example make a "mix tape" and give to a
friend or loading a selection on something else as my netbook.

With folder files you are restricted to move albums or similar, I think
embedded is widely supported BUT maybe not as png :-/

I do realize that scanner is slower with embedded images .

maybe better to stay with jpeg when possible it so ancient that it is
supported by anything. Png is better but maybe of little use as cover
art .

It was just that womad delivered nice looking cover art with the files
as png embedded in the apple lossles files , womad sell's files in alac
weird choice imo. (i convert them to flac)

My tagging is in general "as little as possible" as I've found no
standard approach that works with more advanced options , tagging is
broken by design whatever you do, you tend to skew your efforts against
the player you use right now, and invent some deply personal scheme that
you tries to enforce to every player you use with varying success, it's
futile.
I don't want to be a perpetual tagger, maybe in my old days if a still
hear something probably beats stamp collecting as a senior hobby.

Hmm I think jpg's is it when thinking in that perpective if i want a
simple and predictable file collection ?

Id did never use WMP when i had windows i preferred foobar and EAC &
flac .
Foobar was/is very cool (winamp i find mostly weird btw)
