You can play flac, too, and most music formats. As for the basic interface and the blue bar, I'm not sure. Are you talking on the radio? I honestly don't pay much attention anymore when I scan. It appears to hang at times, but I believe that is due to other processes. The server these days is much faster than it used to be, so hitting scan and walking away was the only way I could get through the process without losing my patience.
