No. m4a could be _either_ AAC (lossy) or Apple Lossless (lossless).
Hence the question about the file sizes. 

One could always re-rip to be on the safe side, but if the m4a files
check out as Apple Lossless then it's a helluva lot easier to transcode
from that to FLAC instead of re-ripping.
