Everybody I know who has tried this software (usually on my recommendation) has bought it!
I have quite a few friends who are revisiting their record collections and/or have bought a USB turntable and have been looking for decent software to go with it. I think VS click and pop removal is a lot less damaging than a general "noise reduction" filter, which removes a lot high frequency information - particularly percussion (cymbals, brushed snare drum, etc). Having tried it out, however, I find click/pop removal does occasionally remove legitimate musical information - again high frequency percussive sounds. At lower settings it is not too bad though and gets rid of most obvioius clicks. I think the biggest contribution to the quality of my recordings though is my very high quality turntable, arm, cartridge and pre-amp. The Linn Sondek LP12 combined with Ekos tonearm and Audio Technica ATOC9 into the Naim preamp has huge dynamic range which makes background noise a lot less intrusive. Also the ATOC9 tracks like nothing else, even the most difficult of innner grooves. As they say, "rubbish in rubbish out". -- TheLastMan Matt http://www.last.fm/user/MJL-UK *SqueezeBoxes:* SB Duet (Controller + two receivers) *Server:* Synology DS107+ (500GB) NAS running LMS 7.7.0 on SSODSmod 4.14 *Network:* Netgear DG834GT ADSL modem/router, 2 x Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 as access points *Livingroom:* Receiver into Naim 42/110 amp, B&W CM2 speakers *Kitchen:* Receiver into Denon DM37 mini-system, B&W 686 speakers *Study:* Linn LP12, Naim 72/Hi-cap/Headline. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TheLastMan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16021 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87289 _______________________________________________ ripping mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/ripping
