I feel your frustration. I am one of those that uses the "Various Artists" AA tag and has faced that problem. I've gone through the hassle of adjusting the configuration to work around that bug and have voted for it and other AA related bugs. (the option for the artist menu to be AA only, etc).
I think the problem is that users who use AA tags are in the minority, and perhaps moreso when it comes to compilations and/or all discs, even those that only have one artist. Just look at how few votes are there. Heck, I only have to look at my family. There are 4 Squeezebox users in our group and I'm the only one using AA to any extent. I don't vocally complain here much because Erland's plugins have filled the gaps in LMS and its predecessors and I have no confidence or patience to wait for these bugs to be fixed. I'm still waiting for the perfect IPod or like device to support AA at all. The Zune did, but Microsoft sucks and couldn't make a good thing sell. Oh well. Does anything stop a person from voting multiple times for the same bug? I'm just curious. Perhaps my wife will become a new user and bug reporter.
