Some people are incapable of understanding what 'lossless compression' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossless_compression) implies. Others are just unwilling. A few are simply correctably ignorant of the matter.
A totally separate group, both capable and willing to understand the subject, have informed themselves about it, but -those- people would never argue that FLAC sounds different from WAV unless the system for encoding or decoding is malfunctioning or broken by design.
