I've always just used LMS with the out of the box settings for the most part and never had any issues that I can remember. When I see threads about transcoding it always makes me wonder if I'm missing something? Am I doing something wrong that I've never had any issues? Would I know how to fix a problem if I did have one?
I suspect my success over the years is a combination of LMS being such a great system and that my music collection if a fairly pedestrian collection of mostly .mp3 files. Is there some kind of test suite, maybe a collection of audio files in different formats or something that you can run through to test your LMS or player setup?
