As an aside to this, what may help log the number of listeners against a time is I've released a beta of a utility called mediaMON which can look at Shoutcast Servers(v1.9.x), Icecast and Windows Media Servers (the server has to have MPM added, most vendors have). It runs on Linux (tested by me on Ubuntu), Windows and Mac. It should also email you is a server goes down or loses the encoded feed.(and it's free).
