Well,  the problem was that the host name was incorrect so recompiling did 
nothing, changed the host name and everything is running fine.

I've also seen this
please check also:
chown rivendell:rivendell /var/snd
then
rdadmin > hosts > delete the host and create a new host according to 
your new hostname
rdadmin > hosts > yournewhost> check all the apps for the soundcard 
(rdlibrary, rdairplay,etc.)
if you got a message about "sound card is not yet setup....) please 
reboot your machine (Quick and dirty way...) and recheck
you can also run rdalsaconfig (under root) and check if everything is OK 
for your soundcard
