Ok!!

I managed to get it to work, just played around with some of the settings
and eventually got it.

Here’s what I did for anyone else using PG and is unsure of how to do it.

In PowerGold, go to automation and create a custom automation setup. Call it
“Rivendell for example” Then configure the below settings;

Output File Mask Extension

Space Delimited YYMMDD log

Fields In First Line Colum Width

Hour (00-23) 1 2

Minute (00-59) 3 2

Second (00-59) 5 2

Cart Number 7 6

Then in Rivendell, go in to RDAdmin àManage Services à open up your service
(E.G “production which is default”) à and configure the below settings

Log Template Name: %Y_%m_%d

Insert CHAIN TO at end of log (YES) Enable AutoRefresh By Default (YES)

Music Data Import

Linux Import Path: /dir/to/your log file/%y%m%d.log (I believe this has to
be relative to the system you are creating the logs on so it can find the
files)

Import Template (Select “Custom”)

Cart Number: Offset: 7 Length: 6

Start Time - Hours: Offset: 1 Length: 2

Start Time - Minutes: Offset: 3 Length: 2

Start Time - Seconds: Offset: 5 Length: 2

After that, all I did was setup my events, clocks and grids and clicked on
“Generate Logs”, it did it’s thing and then clicked “merge” and I had a log
of music create by PG!

Thanks for the advice and ideas on this one guys!

Cheers,

Lee

When you load a schedule into Riv. and create a log for that day, do you
have a red dot
beside the "Music" button? Showing something there, but not loaded?

In my experience, the only thing that really matters is if Riv. can pick up
the 6 digit cart
number. So, if you can open the log you are sending to Riv., make sure the
8 in the
offset is correct. How many spaces from the left of the page are there
before Riv.
is to start looking for the Cart#. That should be enough to accomplish what
you want,
Riv. will drag the rest in. Cart # offset and length, which of is 6.

Hmm..don't seem to be having a great deal of luck...

I have custom configured the import settings in services

Cart Number: Offset: 8 Length: 6
Start Time - Hours: Offset: 0 Length 2
Start Time - minutes: Offset: 3 Length: 2
Start Time - Seconds: Offset: 6 Length: 2

I found this on one of the wikki pages, not sure if I understand it
correctly though.

As for Powergold, I have tried using Standard Automation, but don't think
it's exporting properally or Rivendell is just not reading it correctly.

When I click on "Test Music" in service editor, I don't get any errors it
just does nothing.

I have tried configuring the RDlogmanager to import from external log,
created log and then merged music and nothing shows up :( what could I be
doing wrong?

To manually setup a format, determine which columns and how wide they need
to be to match the import format. In PG, go to Automation > Setup and select
Standard Automation Output as the automation system. You will be able to
define the file format in the Field Setup box on the right.

I don't recall how many pre-defined input formats RD has, but you may be
able to get away with simply choosing a pre-defined PG automation system
output that matches one of the RD input formats.
