Hello all.

I'm going to be speaking at a conference of college radio folks in NYC early
next month (as I have done since 1992). In recent years, I have been pumping up
Rivendell as a cost-effective automation system for college radio/webcast
stations, and maybe move them off WinAMP for good.

RD in the main studio is a given, but what about the rest of the operation?
There's the production side of things, there's administrative, operations, show
prep, promotions, webpage maintenance and authoring et al.

I've suggested multimedia distros in the past, such as Ubuntu Studio; which
comes with WYSIWYG web tools, audio editors, rudimentary video assembly tools
and a MIDI noisemaker or two. Install this on the computers in the bullpen, the
programming office and on the desk of the faculty adviser, tie them to the
network, and hundreds of dollars have just been saved in software costs alone.

Can anyone suggest or recommend a newer or better multimedia distro - other
than Ubuntu Studio, and with all the toys - that you have had success with, or
at least had caught your attention? Thanks.

AP
