Are there file access notifications being used in Rivendell? Would the update of the "last access time" on the file that you are copying from, cause Rivendell to stop a thread of execution to see what was going on? I have not looked at the source of any of the rivendell pieces in depth yet to know how much "activity" triggers various behaviors.
