I was (some years back) playing with an add in to CAED that appeared as a switcher for accepting audio over IP in various forms, you set up an entry as a URL and could to the usual ST <N> to cause that stream to appear on the relevant port. The whole thing got rather bogged down in that the ASI cards we were supporting at the time didn't really provide sufficiently flexible routing to make it work well. It really needed caed to support routing between different asynchronous audio sources and sinks (Doable but a bit of a pain in the bum, and the CPUs at the time were not really up to it). What would be kind of cool would be a switcher of that type that supported talkback and remote GPIO, but again the integration with caed becomes somewhat incestuous and very hairy absent some sort of overall audio routing fabric that does ASRC in caed (Possibly rip off some of the stuff from pulseaudio or netjack for this). Having such an overall routing fabric would be cool for other reasons, imagine being able to do a switch take between two different cards or even two different cards on different machines on the network.... At some point I will have to dig that work out again and see if it can be updated.
