To be clear, hourly audio chunks with a database log of x song played at 10, y
song played at 10:05 is not good enough?

You seem to be asking for something akin to a stream ripper which is not really
in favour these days but was popular back in the Internet dark ages. They used
to (and still do) record the songs from an Internet stream and split the tracks
based on the song meta data sent in the stream.

I don't know of any of these that would time stamp the recordings however. Let
alone produce a log based on it. You might be able to adapt any open source
rippers but I have no idea how stable they'd be over long periods of time (as
needed in rot software).

Subject: [RDD] advanced recording info?????

I have been a lurker for many months, but I now am looking for a really
wild piece of software......
and I am hoping that someone may have an Idea where to look.

A firm in our area has developed an audio recording system that records
streaming audio and with the use of the encoded metadata, will record
segmented audio and store the audio segments on a local hard drive.

We currently are requested to keep a recorded log as a proof of
performance, and we are allowed to do this digitally, BUT most of the
software recording systems only allow for a time insertion at the set
beginning of the recording segment. Thus if the logger is set to record
for an hour, we only know that the start of the hour is approximately
the start of the recording.

The new recorder digitally encodes and records (via database), the cut
metadata, (as sent out by the RDS system) as well as the time (based
upon the rds data change), and then allows you to look through the
stream based upon the meta data sequences..

Has anyone heard of such a software that could be tied to the Rivendell
system... or for that matter any other system?
