Hi Kevin, See the inline responses. > 1. I am running the system on 2x Dell Optiplex GX620s. Any ideas?
You'll need to have dual-monitor set up already. Once that is done then your best option is to run RDAirplay with the log in one window, and RDPanel for your cart panel / hotkeys. In RDAirplay you can have the log showing, and put the stuff you might put on the panel in RDPanel. You can even turn off the panel in rdairplay to avoid confusion. Have them both running with RDAirplay on one monitor and RDPanel on the other. On another note, one thing to check on the GX620's is the capacitors on the motherboard. These machines are one of the models that Dell had difficulty with capacitors prematurely going bad. Specifically there are some 820uf and some 2200uf which like to go bad (to know what to look for just google bad capacitors). At some point in their lifetime Dell appears to have changed the manufacturer of the capacitors that they used in these machines, the newer ones seem to be okay, but I've seen failures on the older ones. If you've got a machine with bad capacitors then order some caps and get out your soldering iron (if you're handy with that kind of repair - if not then find someone who is). > 2. If so, then every time you reboot DHCP will get the DNS server information from the DHCP server. IF your DHCP server is not giving out correct DNS info then you'll run into this. My advice - set the IP address static along with all the DNS info. For me I prefer to put the info directly into the /etc/resolv.conf file and turn off the various GUI network setup utilities that are out there, but you can do it however you wish. > 3. When you do this you'll be using a library common to any of the Rivendell boxes on the system, so if you add a new audio file, macro, or anything like that it'll show up on the other system.
